||Anna (Dau of Joiada) |
||, , Cornouaille, Wales
- It is possible that Anna could have been the mother of both Joseph and
Mary by the brothers Heli (Eli) and Jacob sons of Matthat or Matthan with
Joseph being son of one of them and Mary being dau of the other.
W Betham's- Genealogical Tables gives Mary as the Dau. of Heli (Eli).
Dr James E. Talmadge thinks Mary was the Dau. of Jacob but acknowledges
that Jacob and Heli were brothers and Joseph and Mary 1st Cousins.
See notes for Mary the Virgin.
A F Schmuhl only shows Anna as married to Jacob and another (unknown) husband father to
Penardim and shows no connection to Heli.
W Betham: Genealogical Tables Tab 22
Mary is also said to be the heiress of Jacob inferring a close fillial relationship.
Eusebius' Ecclesiastical History futher complicates the genealogy by indicating that Estha widow
of Matthan married Melchi and had Heli and Heli's widow married Jacob. See pp 19-23.
