William and Hannah Jane and their son John emigrated 22 April 1855 on the ship "Curling"
with the Israel Barlow Company then joined the Capt. C H Harper Company arriving in Salt Lake
29 Oct 1855, the 6th company that season. A daughter Mary Ann was born while thet were on
their journey 30 Aug 1855 but died just three weeks before the end of their journey and was buried
in an unmarked grave 8 Oct 1855 along the way..
Vest, William (I809)

56 UtahTerritorial Pioneer
Of Naggshead Dorecoate Street, Stocton-on-tees, Durham,England
Emigrated from England leaving Liverpool 31 Mar 1855 on the ship "Juventa" with his wife, Elizabeth
and five surviving children arriving at Philadelphia 5 May 1855.
The company then proceeded by rail to Pittsburgh and from thence by steamboat down the Ohio river
to St Louis. Traveling from St Louis to Florence Nebraska they outfitted themselves and joined the
Richard Ballentyne Company of Ox-teams to cross the plains arriving at Salt Lake City 25 Sep 1855. Some confusion arises from the fact that Richard Ballentyne was in charge of emigrating saints from England, leaving Liverpool 17 Jan 1855 on the ship "Charles Buck" arriving at New Orleans about
14 Mar 1855 and then arriving at St Louis 27 Mar 1855. Richard Ballentyne then led an ox-team company across the plains to Salt Lake City arriving there 25 Sep 1855. Those parties in the ox-team company were not exactly the same as those crossing the ocean even though the total numbers match closely.
Divorce decree for John Vest and Elizabeth was 15 Mar 1871, Utah County Probate Docket.
Children of John Vest Jr and Betsy Elizabeth Parnaby were sealed to their mother and her 2nd Husband William
James Calkins
